Bono Consulting was called in to finish the plans that were started by another consultant that was not able to get the permits for this development. This project was a simple strip mall on a half-acre parcel, but the permitting was fairly complicated. In addition to the permit from the Village of Niles, this project needed a permit from IDOT for the new driveway to Oakton street. It also needed a permit from the MWRD for the new sanitary service and for the new storm sewers in a combined sewer area (qualified sewers). Stormwater detention was provided on the surface of the parking lot which saved the owner a significant amount of construction costs compared to putting the detention underground.
