5000 East End Avenue, Chicago – Regulated Site – New Parking Lot

The existing parking lot for the 5000 East End building was in a severely deteriorated condition and was in need of a total reconstruction. Because the parking lot was more than 7,500 square feet, it was classified as regulated site, requiring rate control (detention) and Volume control (infiltration). 

The infiltration was achieved by installing large dry wells (catch basins with open bottoms on large beds of rock) under the new asphalt pavement.  Construction cost savings were achieved by reusing an existing sewer service from the site and eliminating the roadway opening fee.
